Long night in Long Eaton
Bedding down in the Market Square for charity
Members of the emh homes Housing & Neighbourhoods team took part in the Long Eaton Sleep Out on 21 April to raise awareness of homelessness and to highlight the importance of affordable housing for those in housing need.
The Sleep Out has become a popular annual event organised by the Long Eaton-based Canaan Trust, an independent charity which has been providing supported accommodation for homeless men in Long Eaton since 1995.
The Mayor of Erewash, Councillor Abey Stevenson, formally launched the event beside the War Memorial in Long Eaton Market Place at 8pm. Representatives of the many organisations taking part then bedded down for the night, surfacing again at seven o’clock the following morning.
The emh homes team – Laura Morgan, Sarah Gee, Sarah Dickens, and Lucinda Sheffield - raised over £600 for the charity.
Well done, everyone!
