Do you want to improve your digital skills?
If so, then why not sign up to come along to a digital guidance drop-in session next year? You will be given one to one guidance and training on all things digital. The sessions are ideal for beginners or anyone who wants to improve their digital skills and are being offered to all residents of emh homes south.
The Wise Owl Digital Guidance events have been organised by members of RACS, including resident Roy Swann. As part of this ongoing program, four drop-in sessions took place over the summer, two at Oak Court in Blaby and one at St Mary’s in Lutterworth and Homestead House in Sapcote.
The training sessions have been organised in partnership with Age UK Leicestershire and Rutland, who brought along volunteers from one of their corporate clients, British Gas, to help residents with everything from switching on a tablet to using Skype to talk to family members. A member of the Leicestershire Police Cyber Crime team was on hand to offer advice on how to stay safe online. A member of local company Computerflu was also able to offer expert technical help and advice.
The drop-in sessions can help you learn new skills and to become more comfortable using computers, laptops and tablets. It’s an opportunity to see what the digital world has to offer and how it can help you to keep in touch with family and friends, shop online, go searching around the world and find out what is going on in your local area. You will also see that by becoming more digitally active, you can help fight against the feeling of isolation and loneliness.
Next year, we will be continuing to offer drop-in sessions at the schemes below.
Scarborough Court, Leicester – 14th February
Wakerley Court, North Evington, Leicester - 14th March
Waterside Court, Loughborough – Date to be confirmed
