Claiming Universal Credit and had your wage payment early this December?

Claiming Universal Credit and had your wage payment early in December?

Many employers pay their staff earlier than usual in December. This can have an impact on their Universal Credit due to the 2 Monthly Assessment Periods (MAP).

If you lose out on Universal Credit due to your December wages being paid early, you can challenge the decision.

If you are going to challenge the decision, please request that the DWP shift the early-paid wages into the MAP when they would normally have been received. This is allowed under Universal Credit regulations.

Please remember that our Financial Inclusion Team are available to help you if you have been negatively impacted by an early December pay day, as well as being there to support our residents to maximise their income and reduce their debt. If you need our help, please call us on 0300 123 6000 and ask to speak to the Financial Inclusion Team.
